In 2026 we will be offering three online retreats via Zoom. An online retreat is a domestic retreat, one carried out in our own unique circumstances wherever we have access to the internet. This is a retreat in the midst of the everyday. We come together at certain times of day for instruction, discussion and group practice, then separate to apply our practice to the unique circumstances of our individual lives. In this way we bridge the gap between the dharmic and the domestic. We discover that the way of everyday life is also the way of awakening.

With Patrick Kearney and Louise Taylor
We live in our concepts – our thoughts, feelings and perceptions about what is happening to us - rather than in the felt sense of our actual experience. We live second-hand rather than first-hand. The Buddha's way of insight helps bring our centre of gravity to the first-hand world of direct experience, to what is already here but usually overlooked. Practising this way allows us to find balance in the midst of chaos, a resting place in the centre of information overload.
About Louise: Louise Taylor has practised meditation for over 20 years and has been teaching since 2018. Louise is a founding member of Radiant Mind Insight Meditation and leads single and multi-day meditation retreats. Her teaching is grounded in the clear practice methodology of the Mahāsi Sayādaw lineage. She encourages practitioners to find a refuge in nature, enquiring deeply and compassionately into our shared experience of being human.

We practise because we are dissatisfied with who and what we are today and want someone and something better. We create fantasies of future awakening while judging ourselves here-&-now as inadequate. However, practice is about our relationship with here-&-now. Our transformation takes place where we have already arrived – in our ordinary, everyday situations. Our task is to return to where we are, which is already enough. We train ourselves to remember that we are already aware, and so already awake.

At the centre of the Buddha’s path to awakening is “mindfulness,” the standard translation of the Pāli word “sati,” literally “memory.” Mindfulness remembers awareness. Awareness is already here, but we forget this and become lost in our obsessions and delusions without even knowing we are lost. Mindfulness practice trains us to remember our awareness. We remember we are already aware – nothing to accomplish. We remember to be aware – clarifying whatever is happening, now. Aware, we are awake. Awake, our minds are bright and our hearts can find ease.

Full retreat is for practitioners who want personal guidance through individual interviews. Fees are at three levels: Benefactor (those with a higher income or who want to contribute by funding those who cannot afford the standard cost) = $350; General (standard full-time retreat attendance) = $250; and Concession (when paying the full price would cause financial difficulty) = $150. All these include individual interviews.
Independent retreat is for practitioners who choose to not have individual interviews. This option is available only for those approved by the teachers. The fee to be paid is decided by each individual practitioner, depending on their particular circumstances.
Weekend only fees are also at three levels: Benefactor = $100; Standard = $50; Concession = $0.
Evening dharma talks: These are free to the public. If you wish to attend the evening talks, just register. Note that all practitioners registered for full, independent or weekend-only retreat can attend the evening dharma talks.
Please note that the fees are just to cover expenses and build a fund for future events. They do not pay for the teaching. In Buddhist tradition, the dharma is felt to be of such great value that it cannot be bought or sold: it can be transmitted and received only as gift. This is dāna, which means “giving” or “gift.” In this spirit, Patrick (and in March, Louise) offers the teaching as a gift. Students return this gift in the form of financial support. Details for giving dāna will be provided at the conclusion of the retreat, or can be found on the dāna page of Patrick’s website.
And if you are interested in attending an in-person retreat ...
